Biggest Search Engine in terms of number of Indexed Pages

Launched in july, 2008 Cuil (www.cuil.com) Cuil.com (pronounced "cool") is the biggest search engine in terms of number of indexed pages. It enjoys 121,617,892,992 page index (that's 121B). This is three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.

The most interesting part is it does not work on page rank number of back links as used by google. It is purely content based search engine. Rather than rely on superficial popularity metrics, Cuil searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance. Cuil searches the Web for pages with the keywords and then analyze the rest of the text on those pages.

Google is facing stiff competition from the search engines line cuil, searchme, and powerset that redefines the way user searches the web.Powerset(www.powerset.com) launched in may, 2008 is another search engine that restricts its searches to wikis, and searchme is a visual based search engine.
